Located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disney’s Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is the closest resort to the Magic Kingdom theme park.  

 

The resort opened in 2009 and is connected to Disney’s Contemporary Resort via a covered elevated walkway.  Bay Lake Tower is popular for the rooms featuring a theme park view of the Magic Kingdom.

Bay Lake Tower / Contemporary Resort do not offer child care. The closest resorts with care available is the WIlderness Lodge (boat ride away) and the Polynesian Resort (monorail ride away).   Child care is for children ages 3-12 years old and that are fully potty trained.
In-room care is offered to children ages 6 weeks to 18 years old with Disney’s recommended provider Kid’s Nite Out.

WIth exception of the Cove Bar (pool bar) and the Top of the World Lounge (16th floor), Bay Lake Tower does not offer any dining experiences.

Top of the World Lounge – Menu not available.  Adult beverages along with drink offerings for the children are available in the evenings.  There is appetizer offerings such as flat breads.  This location is available only to Disney Vacation Club members who are presently staying on property on points.  It is popular for viewing the Magic Kingdom fireworks.  They will dim the lights and add in the musical accompaniment to the fireworks.

 

Listed below are the options located over at the Contemporary Resort.  

 

The Wave…of American Flavors – Menu  American cuisine in an elegant dining experience.  Offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  

California GrillMenu  California inspired dining.  This is a Signature dining location and will require 2 table service dining credits per meal here if you are on the dining plan. Only serving dinner.

 

Chef Mickey’s  – Menu Buffet style character dining for the whole family.  Serving breakfast, brunch and dinner.  This is a great place to meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, and Donald.

 

Contempo Cafe  – Menu Quick-service dining offering the typical burgers and flatbreads.  You can also find great grab and go items.

 

The Sand BarMenu Casual quick-service dining for your time near the pool.
There is also room service available 24 hours per day

Disney’s Magical Express is available for free transportation between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and the resort.

 

Magic Kingdom access is a 10 minute walk from the resort, or you can also take the monorail located at the Contemporary Resort.

EPCOT transportation is via the monorail located at the Contemporary Resort.

Disney Bus service is used for your travel between the resort water parks, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs.

 

There is also boat transportation that runs between the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness.
There is no cost to park at the resort.  Included in your resort stay is parking at the Walt Disney World theme parks.

Bay Lake Tower has a pool located next to the tower.  The pool offers zero-entry, areas for the little ones and slides.

There is Olympiad Fitness Center located at the Contemporary Resort.  This is a full service fitness center and offers spa services.
Spa treatments such as a variety of massages should be scheduled in advance by calling (407) WDW-SPAS or (407) 939-7727.

There is a variety of fun to have around the resort.

There are nightly campfires and movies by the pool.

What rooms are considered standard view?

I love this thread on the DISboards.  It shares all the rooms with their categories.  
You can book a standard view that has a partial theme park view.  The key for doing this is to request to be on the highest floor as possible.
